Community of Practice on Rapid Starts

This monthly gathering of healthcare providers and administrators in Oregon and SW Washington will develop protocols for the adoption of rapid starts for newly diagnosed, new to care, and out of care clients with HIV in the region.

Immediate antiretroviral therapy (ART) or “Rapid Start” refers to “starting HIV treatment as soon as possible after the diagnosis of HIV infection, preferably on the first clinic visit (and even on the same day the HIV diagnosis is made).” [resource]

Each meeting will feature a check-in discussion about participants’ experiences, successes, and concerns; a topic-based discussion led by experts; and a debrief to determine action items and next steps.
