The U.S. Federal government has introduced a bold plan to end the HIV epidemic by 2030. Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is a key part. This case-based presentation will review recent changes to the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention’s PrEP management guidelines and apply the guidelines to real-world scenarios with an eye on health equity. Topics will include identifying individuals who would benefit from PrEP, PrEP initiation and monitoring, and new and future PrEP agents. The presentation is aimed at advanced practice providers (nurse practitioners and physician assistants), but would benefit professionals from all disciplines who work with people at risk for HIV infection.
