With both clinical and public health tracks, this one-day summit is designed to provide clinicians and support staff with the knowledge, language, and tools necessary to improve health outcomes and address health disparities experienced by the LGBTQ+ population. Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer patients experience significant health disparities when compared with cisgender, heterosexual individuals. With the current rise in sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in our communities, it is imperative that providers and support staff understand the patient context. Join us as we explore a variety of topics essential to LGBTQ+ health equity including local epidemiological trends, why sexual orientation and gender identity matter, sexual history taking, STI screening and treatment, using the EHR to improve clinic communication, and prescribing Pre and Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP/nPEP).
