In partnership with the Northwest Portland Indian Health Board, Dayna Morrison, MPH will train Chemawa Indian Health Center staff on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI).
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer, and two-spirit (LGBTQ2S+) patients experience significant health disparities when compared with cisgender individuals. These disparities include disproportionate rates of obesity, alcohol abuse, and certain types of cancer. With the current rise in sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in our communities, it is essential that providers and support staff understand the patient context and review sexual history taking to better assess risk and appropriately screen and treat all infections, not just those that are symptomatic.
This training is for Chemawa Indian Health Center providers and support staff. If you would like to request a training for your team, contact Ashley Allison at Ashley@oraetc.org
