Communities of practice are online opportunities for individuals with a shared project, goal, or field of work to come together to share experiences, learn from each other, and network.

STI/HIV Outreach Community of Practice

1st Tuesday from 11am - 12:30pm, Quarterly

This community of practice is for outreach workers supporting patient access to STI/HIV prevention and care options, with a focus on PrEP/PEP navigation. This meeting offers a space for attendees to connect with Oregon colleagues doing similiar work, discuss cases to identify best-practices, ask questions of clinical experts, and identify opportunities for collaboration with partners.


HIV Breakfast Club

1st Wednesday from 7:30am - 8:30am, Monthly in the Fall, Winter, Spring

The Oregon AETC's longest standing community of practice, Breakfast Club is an intimate convening of HIV care providers in Oregon and SW Washington where attendees learn from local and national HIV experts, share cases, and discuss emerging best practices. Free CME is available to all attendees.


STI & PrEP Forum (SPF)

1st Wednesday from 12pm - 1pm, Monthly

SPF brings together providers, public health, and community outreach workers outside the Portland metro area to learn about important clinical updates and explore the evidence guiding current clinical practices related to STI/HIV prevention and treatment. Presentations cover a variety of clinical topics, with a focus on case-based discussion and audience participation to promote peer-to-peer learning. Sessions are facilitated by Ashley Allison and Dr. Sugat Patel. Individuals interested in presenting to the group are encouraged to reach out using the button below.


HIV Nursing Community of Practice

3rd Friday from 10am - 11am, Monthly

This monthly community of practice doubles as an Association of Nurses in AIDS Care (ANAC) - Cascade Chapter meeting, and is an opportunity for informal, peer-to-peer learning for nurses in HIV and STI prevention and care across the state of Oregon. Each meeting features a check-in, case-based discussion, and conversation about a specific topic of interest as determined by the group.


PrEP/nPEP Statewide Workgroup

3rd Thursday from 1pm - 2pm, Monthly

This regularly scheduled meeting convenes stakeholders across Oregon to improve access to HIV Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and non-occupational Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (nPEP). Meetings are a platform for sharing knowledge, identifying emerging barriers to access, and collaborating on projects that aim to improve access to PrEP & nPEP. Anyone interested in learning from or contributing to the group is encouraged to join. Those interested in asking stakeholders for feedback or input can request a slot on our agenda.

 

Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity (SOGI) Data Collection Community of Practice

3rd Friday from 1:05pm - 2:25pm, Monthly

This community of practice provides a peer-to-peer learning environment to support OHA and ODHS staff and leadership as their agencies develop, implement, and improve their SOGI data collection protocols in alignment with Oregon legislation. Individuals in leadership roles with capacity to transform systems to support SOGI data collection are encouraged to join.


HIV Rapid Start Learning Collaborative

2024 Limited Series, 11am - 1pm, March 20, April 17, May 15

Immediate antiretroviral therapy (ART) or “Rapid Start” refers to “starting HIV treatment as soon as possible after the diagnosis of HIV infection, preferably on the first clinic visit (and even on the same day the HIV diagnosis is made).” This series of three interactive educational sessions gives participants access to HIV Rapid Start subject matter experts to build a foundation for program success. Post-series, all participants are eligible to receive direct technical assistance to support Rapid Start implementation at their place of practice. Participants may attend sessions that align with their availability. See the event flyer for session details. All sessions include free CME.


Rapid Start ART Community of Practice

2nd Tuesday from 12pm - 1pm, Monthly

Immediate antiretroviral therapy (ART) or “Rapid Start” refers to “starting HIV treatment as soon as possible after the diagnosis of HIV infection, preferably on the first clinic visit (and even on the same day the HIV diagnosis is made).” This monthly gathering of HIV providers, HIV support staff, and program administrators in Oregon and SW Washington supports the development protocols for the adoption of rapid starts for newly diagnosed, new to care, and out of care clients with HIV in the region.

This event is open to individuals who have participated in or plan to complete a STI/HIV or rapid start preceptiorship with the Multnomah County HIV Health Services Center (HHSC) or have attended the Rapid Start Learning Collaborative. Those new to rapid start should join the Rapid Start Learning Collaborative to learn more about this innovative standard of care.


Gender-Affirming Hormone Therapy Community of Practice

2nd and 4th Thursdays from 12pm - 1pm, Twice Monthly

This community of practice supports primary care providers offering gender-affirming hormone therapy (GAHT) to their adult patients. Each meeting includes opportunities for general check-ins and case-based discussion on various topics to support peer-to-peer learning. Participants are encouraged to submit cases in advance.


HIV Medical Re-Entry and Community Partnerships Community of Practice
